Tools and Materials List

Now, here's a list of all the tools and materials that you will need to build it from your downloaded plans.



You can find all of the items here. Just click on the link and enter the item name in the search box.

Several options may be listed. For tools, choose any that are within your budget. If you can afford DeWalt, Makita or Hitachi, go for those - DeWalt being the best.

Look in the Clearance section, where they have items listed that are not available through their other pages, as you can get some great bargains here, e.g drill bit sets and tubs of screws.

• Tape measure
• Step ladder
• Work bench
• Post level
• Spirit level
• Mallet
• Hand saw
• Jigsaw or bandsaw
• Builder's square
• Sledgehammer
• Chisel
• Drill (corded or cordless)
• Drill bit set (2mm and 8mm bits)
• Spanner
• String
• Metal or wooden pegs
• Pencil

Optional:

• Extension reel
• RCD safety plug
• Reciprocating saw
• Screwdriver set
• Line marker paint

Materials

• 6 (4" x 4") square posts = (100mmx100mm)
• 5 (6" x 1.5") rafters x 3m lengths (or to suit) (152mm x 38mm)
• 4 (10" x 1.5") rafters x 3m lengths (or to suit) (255mm x 38mm)
• 6 spiked, concrete-in or bolt down post anchors (Metposts)
• Post anchor driving tool (for use with spiked)
• Stainless steel screws - approximately 4mm x 60mm (min)
• 6 round headed coach bolts with nut -M8 x 150mm
• Washers M8
• Clear preservative

Optional:

• Wood stain/colour
• Coloured wood preservative
